Features of the
Due to his age, Lorkh has perfectly taken root not only in most regions of the Russian Federation, but also in all neighboring countries. And his taste and excellent appearance the type of fruit provided him with more than one decade of successful sales in many European markets. In addition, do not forget that it is also used for industrial purposes to obtain starch.
IMPORTANT! As for the choice of an area for planting, it is necessary to highlight the following: young crops of this potato crop do not like too much heat and lack of moisture in the soil. Therefore, gardeners from the southern regions must prepare good irrigation conditions, preferably automated.
In terms of soil selection, this variety is not too whimsical, however with a lack of potassium and phosphorus in the soil the resulting fruits may have a less attractive appearance. Some gardeners also choose to cut up their planting material to increase the amount. And if individual varieties can survive this procedure with minimal losses, then in the case of Lorkh, the quality and volume of the harvest will significantly decrease.
Planting your sprouted tubers should be in holes about 8 cm deep. Unlike many other types of potatoes, Lorch tubers should be placed sprouts down. This stimulates the formation of more spreading bushes, which, accordingly, will have better lighting. Subsequently, your plants need to be provided with mandatory feeding, nitrogen fertilizers are best suited here, which can be applied already at the growing season.
In general, the agrotechnical methods for growing this variety are standard - hilling, weed control, mulching if necessary and desired, watering.
Diseases and pests
Apparently due to his growth, Lorkh has acquired an impressive immune system, which provides him with resistance to almost all diseases and pests.
So, it has excellent protection against: viral diseases, late blight, rust, bacteriosis, alternaria, verticillosis, fusarium. Only 2 diseases can find a gap in his defense: scab and cancer.
Potato cancer is very dangerous and can affect not only the potato itself, but also the soil around it. Therefore, if your plants still get sick with them, then everyone affected bushes should be burned immediately.
Also, in this case, it will be necessary to carry out the correct crop rotation. That is, include in it row crops that will rid your soil of cancer for up to 6 years... Of the chemical means of protection, the treatment of planting tubers with a suspension of foundationol or a suspension of benomyl can help here.
In the fight against scab, again, adherence to crop rotation and the use of healthy planting material will help. In addition, siderates significantly interfere with the development of the disease. As for chemicals, trichodermin will be extremely useful. They can pickle both tubers and the soil itself.
