Care and cultivation

The early Siberian tomato is suitable for growing in all regions of Russia, except for the Volga region, the Central Black Earth Region and the North Caucasian District. The main feature of this time-tested tomato variety is the simultaneous ripening of the fruits.

IMPORTANT: Larger fruits of this variety can be obtained when grown outdoors.

Tomatoes of this variety almost never crack. When grown in greenhouses, pre-hardened and treated seeds should be planted in late March or early April. The planting depth of seeds should be at least one centimeter. All further care consists in regular watering and feeding. When at least two leaves appear on the seedlings, they dive.

In a greenhouse, bushes usually grow up to sixty to ninety centimeters in height, so they need a garter to a vertical support. In open ground, seedlings are planted in late May or early June. Plants will feel best in light, slightly acidic soil, which will be slightly moistened.

RECOMMENDATION: When planting, add ten grams of superphosphate to each well.

The distance between the bushes should be at least fifty centimeters, and the distance between the rows can vary from twenty-five to thirty-five centimeters. Plants must be formed into three stems. Caring for tomatoes consists in maintaining a low humidity of the atmosphere, watering with warm water after sunset, regularly applying fertilizers and loosening the soil.

Diseases and pests

Siberian early ripening tomato is not very susceptible to diseases of tomatoes in greenhouses, and it shows high resistance to tobacco mosaic virus and brown spot. However, when growing it, you run the risk of encountering such diseases:

  • Late blight, which will help to get rid of special fungicidal preparations or a 10% solution of sodium chloride;
  • Gray rot, which can be cured with fungicides and triazole preparations;
  • Fusarium and Alternaria, from which treatment with fungicidal preparations will save;
  • The main pests of tomatoes are bear, wireworm, whitefly, aphid and nematode. To combat them, there are many insecticidal preparations.
